Balancing Academics with Different Extra Curricular Activities
There are many tips to help yourself balance extracurricular activities with academics. In the seventh grade, you will need to learn and follow by these tips so that you wont become overwhelmed with too many activities while balancing academics. If you have one or many extracurricular activities, it is very important to know how to balance them with your academics. If you follow these steps, you will be successful in maintaining an evenly balanced academic school year, while participating in extra curricular activities: 1. Prioritize What's Important- If you examine your day, and write down everything you need to do into a list from most important to least important. 2. Make Schedules- Once you have all of your activities written down into a list, create separate schedules for each of your activities and color code them so your remember easier. Also, create a combined schedule with everything on it so that you know when you have to work quicker or slower. -Make sure your schedule fits best for you and not for others 3. Keep a Sleep Routine- As well as balancing extracurricular activities, you have to make sure you balance the amount of sleep you get --> record how many hours you get so that you don't overwork yourself. 4. Maximize Your Time- Make sure you use your time wisely and always try to fit in as much as you can into your schedule. This means setting aside plenty of time for homework and studying -- school comes before extra activities. But make sure you don't overwork yourself; set aside "just you" time. By: Erin McGreevy |
Does playing sports improve grades?
Although doing physical activity daily can improve your health, it may also improve your grades. To begin with, Howell Wechsler, director of the Division of Adolescent and School Health for the Centers for Disease Control showed after 50 studies that students who had physical activity had an increased duration towards schoolwork. Second, physical activity improves test scores. This reason is highlighted by the fact that a school discovered that students who performed best on fitness tests in physical education also performed better academically. They scored nearly 30 percent higher on standardized tests than the least fit group. Lastly, maintaining eligibility will help athletes do well in school. They will try their hardest to maintain good grades to continue playing the sport that they play. In conclusion, being physically fit can improve grades for these reasons. by Ben Reddington
